People are talking about Slantville. Our publicity is reaching folks on both ends of the market, the art buyers as well as artists. Here's what some of them have said about our little community.

"Art connoisseurs have a new place to look for potential pieces . . . . Slantville, a breezy name derived from the way artists often look at the world 'from a slightly different angle' . . . . Its goal is to showcase the artists' works for potential buyers or people who need to commission illustrations . . . . The web is a good way for potential buyers to get a taste of an artist's work."

"Slantville has served me well. Brite Star Mfg. Co. commissioned me to do three xmas illustrations for them last August. I was paid over $700 for my labor. Yesterday I learned they are using two of my designs on gift boxes and bags. That means an additional $900 in my pocket for the next three years' rights. Last year's dues were well worth it!"

"I include the address www.slantville.com/Art/DStewart on all samples and promotional information. The chairperson of the ALA - ALSC Caldecott Committee 2000 said she loved Slantville. A photographer who owns or works in an art gallery in San Antonio was impressed that my work could be accessed on the computer and was curious about our cooperative site. In a recent request for art samples or web site addresses, I was able to send Slantville's address so easily on e-mail. In this case I got a response in a day (unheard of response time in my experience) . . . . I have also gotten one response from Slantville from an aspiring artist. I was especially pleased to find Slantville listed in the Children's Writer's and Illustrator's Market 2000."

"I've gotten a good lead from Slantville recently. An editor from Lee & Low saw my artwork and asked to see additional samples! . . . . Slantville has been very helpful to send people to if they want a quick look at my work, especially because I don't have a website. I have gotten one project because the editor first saw my art on the site, then asked for a quote on a project and to see a full portfolio."

"I have received nibbles from Scholastic, Learning Media, Little, Brown & Co., among others. As a direct result of Slantville, I am on file as a freelance illustrator with the Design Department at Pauline Books and Media. As a direct result of the spring 2000 promotion, I received a request for samples from a company that are licensees of classic properties such as I Love Lucy, etc. . . . . I have received 3 jobs that came through Slantville."
